I was asked to make a cake for a nursery rhyme themed baby shower.
There were a lot of different ideas thrown around for this cake. At first I was asked to do an open book cake frosted with butter cream and some 3D characters. Then I searched online to see what others have done. I saw some really great ideas on the web. I forwarded some of these ideas to my 'client' and from the ideas they asked for a pile of books with 3D characters.
This is what I came up with.

I did a very simple cake this time around. Just a yellow cake with buttercream, covered in fondant and gumpaste characters. Jon said he couldn't believe I didn't put anything in the middle. I'm always trying new things in the center. This time I wanted quick and easy. (It's the end of the school year so I super busy with that, and of course my gorgeous babes that I just loaded the center with buttercream).

I made a gumpaste clock and mouse for Hickory Dickory Clock, a Humpty Dumpty, a spider for the Itsy Bitsy Spider, and a lamb for Mary had a Little Lamb. Oh and a baby for the top to sit next to the "Sent from Heaven above..."

They asked for the mama's to be name and baby shower on the bindings of the books.

Adorable cake! Linda
