New Life

Seven weeks ago to this day Jon and I were getting ready to take a trip to the hospital. March 10th, 2010 we spent our last day as "Just the Two of Us" (well 3 including the pup).
We had a large agenda. Sadly we didn't get to complete it. We were suppose to sleep in, pack the hospital bags, take a walk at the park with the pup, then head over to the hospital. That's not what we did. Jon decided, since he took the day off, he should make a quick doctors appointment for his hurt ankle. Well, that quick doctor appointment lasted 2 hours. UGH! Then of course, I decided it was totally necessary to clean the house from TOP to BOTTOM. We did have a great day together though, we even got ice cream. YUM! However, we did not get to the park, but we did give Sota a bath. We figured she needed to be super clean and smell yummy before meeting her brothers.
Here is Sota with her Mommy ready to say hi to the boys.
Jon and Kristin, ready to become Mommy and Daddy.
This is how big I was at the end....I say HUGE! 37 1/2 weeks.
We got to the hospital and were so excited with what was about to come. I was induced at 7:00pm. The whole process was fine. Except for the monitors hooked up to myself and the boys. Since I was categorized as a "high risk" pregnancy each of us needed a belt around my waist to listen form hear beats to make sure no one goes into distress. For this reason, I was not allowed to get out of bed for any reason. That was the most frustrating part of the whole thing. Every time I moved I would knock off one of the belts and a nurse would have to come in (not happy of course) and reposition it.
In the morning they went ahead and continued the process. They gave me drugs to help my contractions along. Not much of what they did was any help. The boys were quite happy in there. I think they wanted to stay the rest of the 3 weeks.
In the afternoon they came in to break my water. With 4 failed attempts they told me I needed to get an epidural now, otherwise they wouldn't be able to break it. If they didn't break it there would be no progress. So I got the epidural and after another long try to break my water they finally were able to.
In the evening my doctor came in and told me that I really wasn't progressing any. She said that neither of the boys were dropping and without their pressure I most likely wouldn't progress any further. She was encouraging me to go ahead and have a c-section. She fel that even if I was able to deliver Baby A, Baby B would end up being a c-section and she didn't want me to have to recover from both deliveries AND care for two newborns. She knew I really wanted to try to deliver on my own so she told me that she was comfortable with my trying ANOTHER 24 hours.
Jon and I decided that we were going to go ahead with the c-section. We felt like we would rather go into the operating room with smiles on our faces ready for a birthday party than rushed in for an emergency or too tired to be as excited as we should.
Thursday, March 11th, 2010 at 9:16pm and 9:17pm new life entered our world. Two new lives actually! When the doctore held them up I was just amazed! (WARNING - picture below is just out of the womb).
The boys were born with NO complications. AMAZING!
Micaiah Jon Ronnevik
5lbs 13oz 19 1/2 inches long
Gunnar James Ronnevik
6lbs 1oz 20 inches long
Since being home we are learning a lot and having a blast. Jon was home with me for the first week. He was such a great help. It was so obvious how in love with his sons he is. He would just stare and giggle and smooch them all day long.
Jon went back to work and I was left alone wiht my little monsters. My mom stopped by here and there for an hour or so, but for the most part it was just me and the boys. Being a mom is hard work. There there is being a mom with TWO newborns. WOW! To be a fly on my wall... You would be suprised with how chaotic it is at times and how serene at others.
The boys and I are having soooo much fun together!

Baby Pool

The further we get into this pregnancy the more often I say to Jon, so...when do you think they are going to be born? I probably ask him this same question, or a question extremly similar to this three times a day. He's gotta be sick of it by now :o

Well a couple of days ago I told him we should have a baby pool. I went online and found this website...so please play...it's fun...for me at least :) Gotta keep mama happy some how :).

New Years

Here are some pictures from New Years Eve...

Now, don't get the wrong idea here... we were being silly... this is sparkling cider... which was oh so yummy! I want more! As I uploaded this picture I was thinking, I really shouldn't post this, people may get the wrong idea... BUT it is a great profile picture of my boys.

(27 weeks pregnant)

I am getting bigger and bigger every day...I'm sure that's expected haha...can't wait to see how much bigger I get!!

I know that it's a new year, and I guess I should have something insightful to say, or at least share a resolution, but all I can think about is THIS IS THE YEAR MY FIRST BORN WILL BE BORN! I should say my first two born will be born :)

We are so excited for what's in store for us!

I can't believe it's taken this long, but people (strangers) are finally asking, oh when are you due, etc. When they find out we are having twins so many of them say, I'm glad it's not me or ha, good luck, you're gonna need it or two-goodness-one was hard enough, and so on. When Jon and I leave that conversations we just start laughing.

We are SO EXCITED that we are having twins! We can't even imagine not. What we can't believe is that D-day is almost here. 2 to 3 more months and our little bundle of boys will be with us!

Christmas

We had a very busy Christmas. So busy I got incredibly sick...YUCK!

We actually didn't even decorate until the Sunday before Christmas. I felt like it was a waste of time...which is sooo sad, because I LOVE to decorate for Christmas. I LOVE November... the first signs of Christmas, but with finishing the kitchen, rearranging the house, trying to get the nursery cleared out, and finishing my last weeks of school (work) I felt like there were more important things to do than put up a tree and pull decorations down from the attic....and to only have them up for only a week or so...there are so many other things that need to get done.

However, Jon's parents and younger brother Lars came out from MN to celebrate with us. So we felt like we needed to decorate. I wish I had pictures of our house decorated...becuase (I think) it actually came out great this year. I think this is the best we have done. The day we finished decorating Jon's family got here, and there was no time for pictures before luggage came in. (I will try to get some pictures after I pick up some...but my picking up might turn into undecorating)

We had a wonderful time with both of our families. It was fun to be all together for Christmas.

Christmas Eve dinner. It came out really yummy! Stuffed pork roll, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, and biscuits. May I say again, YUM!

Christmas day we all went to my moms house for a big breakfast and to open presents.
My moms tree with gifts for Mom, Jimmy (big brother), Matthew (little brother), Jason (little brother), Jon (hubs), Linda (Jon's mom), Richard (Jon's dad), Lars (Jon's little brother), Aunt Doris (aunt), AJ (cousin), and Me.

Jon helping my mom with her big breakfast. He stood in the kitchen for like 30 minutes making 3lbs of bacon...WOW.

We had a blast!

Belly Shots

As I have mentioned before I am not too big into taking pictures. I use to LOVE being in pictures...but since my jaw surgery I have shyed away. There aren't that many pictures of my preggo belly because of this reason...I figured I should post a few any way.

This us over Thanksgiving...let's see that means I was 22 weeks pregnant.

This is sometime in December. I don't remember when... sorry :(

Baby Cradle

Jon's dad makes a craddle for each of his kids when they get pregnant. His parents told us that they were going to bring it out when they came to visit for Christmas.
Harvest was so crazy for them this year that he never had a chance to put it together. So they brought the pieces with them. Which was actually a lot of fun because Jon, Lars, and Richard put it together together. It was fun to watch them all work together on the cradle.

Poor Richard spent some hours of his 'vacation' in our basement staining and varnishing the cradle. I'm sure he didn't mind too much..being that he was probably high as a kite down there ;)
